Welcome to Photography

Photography is taught in Year 9 and at GCSE level. The course start with the teaching of the basic techniques of using a range of cameras, understanding the visual and compositions within images, types and styles of photography and then developing the skills and confidence to plan shoots and to take effective photographs. Within the course students will cover basic editing using manual and digital techniques.

The subject of photography will allow students to develop critical and practical skills that enable them to gain an understanding of a range of different areas of the visual arts. There are many genres of Photography and we aim to cover these in the projects created for year 9 and GCSE.

Creativity and independent thinking are also encouraged. These skills and knowledge are highly valuable in a wide range of creative industries and future careers.
